I should think Noozhawk qualifies for this list. Launched in Santa Barbara in October 2007, we count among our professional staff former newspaper sales executives, in addition to journalists.

The Lake County News (http://www.lakeconews.com) in Lakeport, Calif., is another such site.

Its funny, but i like lakeconews.com and read in my private time. They got nice news about the lake country, where i was born in.
