With Rob Curley having left The Washington Post—and his big hyperlocal project, LoudounExtra.com—for the Las Vegas Sun, OJR’s Tom Grubisich looked for what went wrong with the Loudoun County, Va., site. What he found was a lack of ability to bring the “Big-J” style to Loudoun’s many small, more rural towns.
